Mechanical friction speed variators
The range of VARMEC variators comprises five sizes (VAR 2-5-10-20-30) with a 1:5 range. For each size, we have the variator and the variatorreducer including variator and reducer directly coupled in monoblock version with 1-2 reduction stages. Variators with IEC output flanges can be installed on various types of gear reducers: coaxial, orthogonal, pendular and worm.
They can also be supplied with IEC B5 unified electric motor. The variation of speed is obtained gradually and continuously by means of a manually operated control hand wheel with direct reading of the position of the variation. The whole series of our variators can be prearranged for speed detection with remote reading by means of inductive proximity switches.
- Applicable powers from 0.12 to 4 kW
- Change in turns i = 1: 5
Principle of operation
VARMEC variators are built on the principle of motion transmission by dry friction between the conical plate (1) and the clutch ring (2) arranged on a shaft in two parts moving axially. The pressure force exerted between the plate and the ring is generated by the load by means of a dovetail coupling (4) in function of the torque drawn on the output shaft (5). A compression spring (3) located between the clutch ring and the output shaft, serves to maintain the contact pressure between the two elements even when the machine is operating without load having the possibility of adjusting the speed from standstill. Moving the conical plate radially with respect to the clutch ring by means of the pinion coupling (6) - rack (7) is obtained the variation in output speed.
